Project Profile: Wallenstein Mill 5 Project

Project details

For over 60 years Wallenstein Feed & Supply has manufactured quality feed for the Ontario livestock industry. In June 2023 Wallenstein Feed & Supply announced its new Mill 5 expansion. With M&G’s expertise and knowledge in the agricultural industry, they were awarded the tender for fabrication of the hoppers and bin panel system and design and fabrication of equipment. The scope of work requires a team of engineers, draftsmen, fabricators and painters to build the equipment and bins and skilled millwrights to install it on-site. M&G Millwrights will commence onsite work in March 2024, once all the design and fabrication work has been done. The project has a completion date of August 2025.

The challenge

The biggest challenge M&G faces is completing the work within the tight 17-month time frame. The amount of product to be fabricated is extensive and some of the work must be done during winter, when the weather is often inclement.

The solution

To meet the challenge, M&G has teamed up on the project with Ayr Welding, tapping into Ayr’s deep talent pool. To keep the project moving forward during the winter, most of the work at that time will be done in the basement and on the main floor, leaving the work up top for the spring.
